Its 90-degree-rotated blade is also very practical. The Fiskars rotating splitting wedge is made of hardened C40 steel and has a Rockwell hardness of 36-42 HRC. With its weight of 2400 grams, it is very robust and handy. The "head" of the 24-centimeter-long wedge has a special polymer striking surface that is covered with a metal ring. This is used in particular to dampen the vibrations that occur when it hits the surface, thereby reducing the risk of possible splintering of material. The striking surface can be replaced if necessary. The splitting wedge meets European safety standards and bears the "Tested Safety" seal.
